Delivery Day 2

So today was day 2 of 3 for my big household deliveries ! I have so many people calling me and scheduling when to come over that my phone calendar is always going off with reminders!

First thing this morning was the mattresses!  YAY!!! The queen size mattress went straight to the guest room which I am done shopping for for a while. Except sheets. I thought the sheets I had in texas were for a Queen but they DO NOT fit the mattress =( boo. So I will be checking out marshalls/ross/walmart in the next couple weeks for sheets. really just as long as I have them before someone comes to visit. The dressers fit nicely in the room and I cannot wait for everything to settle into place so I can get to fixing them up. Still havent decided what Im doing, I just really fell in love with this bedroom set for some reason and it was a great deal.

Next came the Fridge! yay! It is a standard sized fridge so it sticks out past the counters a bit. Honestly, if someone were, um, exceptionally large...they might not fit in between the fridge and my island. But when I say that, I mean you would need to be like three times my size. Still, I had looked at smaller "counter depth" or whatever they call it fridges and obviously they were smaller and they cost MORE but basically...I need my food storage. Lets be real.

Then a quick pop back to the place I have been staying for a Skype date.

Then the dryer man came. Told me the igniter had cracked which is why the dryer wasnt working so he sent away for a new piece.

Then wait...wait..wait... and FINALLY [really they were within the window they said they would be] My couch and bedroom set arrived. Except the store did not tell the delivery men that they would be hauling my epic bedroom set with marble topping to the second floor of the house. oh god, i dont think I have ever felt so bad. It took them 2 hours to get my bedroom set put together and bring in the couch. The couch took maybe 15 minutes. I have to give it to them though, they didnt hit the walls or mess anything up. But HOLY CRAP did we come close. The marble on the top of the pillars is literally half an inch or less from the ceiling. And they had to move the bed inch by inch to make sure that it wouldnt hit the ceiling fan. The ceiling fan that i picked out because it is the absolute closest to the ceiling that they had. Thank god because any other ceiling fan would not have worked.

I tipped the guys [because my friend pretty much told me to, and in all honesty, they worked really damn hard] and i gave them some dark chocolate hershey kisses for the road..because there isnt much in my kitchen unless they wanted green beans or oatmeal lol
it barely cleared the ceiling and fan by about 1/2 and inch each!!!

Im really happy with how the bedroom set it, now I just need a bedspread and other details but all of that can wait for a bit. I have an awesome picture back in florida that I am hoping to get soon because I pretty much based my color scheme around that picture and it is amazing.

Im also very happy with the couch. The couch came with an ottoman that i didnt really want/need but they wouldnt sell it for less if  i didnt take the ottoman so i got it. Now my problem is that yes, it does look good, but i based my entire plan for my living room off of the Living room table that I made...and now i dont know if i should use it and move the ottoman to the loft or if i should put the table in the loft...thoughts?

Current Living Room as is =) Still need a table for the Blu-ray player and HDDVR for Direct TV but for now I may just have to put that on the ottoman or table...

^ The living room table I made.

And in case you think I am blogging from home, you would be wrong. Hopefully one week from today I will have my internet and TV...and also my Dog!! Dad is shipping Lola out next wednesday so I will have a dog to add to the mix. -- it costs more to ship the dog one way than it does round trip for me so we must seriously love this dog...or Dad just reallllly wants to get rid of her.

But now Im just hanging out at my previous residence, watching food network and waiting for a brief skype date.

Stresses of a New Home Owner

So yah, everyone warned me homebuying was stressful. Well, actually, I dont think I was properly warned about all this stuff that comes with buying the home. Buying it was easy, just signed the paper. All this other crap. well. crap.
So this morning first thing I did was call USAA to tell them that NO for the 6th time I DID NOT steal my credit/debit card and that YES i really did want to spend that much money on ceiling fans!

Once we established THAT, I called the fan company so I could pay for the fans I had selected yesterday when USAA stopped my cards and wasnt open because it was Sunday.

Then I went to Yoga Sculpt. ah. the best part of my whole day. Finished with a greens and berries protein shake <3 soooo delicious and filling [and thank goodness because i didnt get another chance to get food until 5pm!]

So then I get home and I call the water//gas//electric companies to have the name on the account switched from the builder to mine. Well, each number had a thirty minute wait on the phone -- not to mention that I spent 15 minutes or more with each company just to GET to a person to be on HOLD for that half an hour. Luckily Gas and Electric both had a courtesy where they put you in line and call you back when its your time. So here I am waiting on the phone with the water company because they have no such courtesy and the Gas company calls back. I was able to take care of all the Gas info and then go BACK to the water call where i was STILL on hold!!! geez. I finally got a person and the figured it all out but seriously, how slow. As soon as I hung up with water, Electricity called me back so I was able to do that as well.

While I was on the phone with electricity the fan-installer-man called me and so did the furniture man from one of the consignment shops -- They were both scheduled to do their work // delivery on Tuesday but had cancellations and could they come today? why, YES! Originally all I was going to get was the washer/dryer/ table today from RC Willey.

Well. Mr Fan man got there first. Super hippie dude, into yoga. My kind of person. He was way nice and we got along well, not to mention my fans rock. Here are 2 of the 4

Master Bedroom

Living room

Within the first hour of Fan Man being there i had THREE people come by trying to sell me their Home Alarm Systems -- not to mention the 6 business cards that had been left in my front door!! I narrowed it down to three [2 of which are ADT] and am currently playing them off each other to see what I can get for the best. Honestly these people are so aggressive though and it was stressing me out, I told them I would not be making any decisions tonight and would call them if I chose them. But really, two of the guys came back TWICE today!!

Next the RC Willey dude came. Here starts the bad moojoo. First they bring in the dryer but they dont have my washer. Apparently the washer had a different order number [even though i purchased and paid for them at the exact same time] So he didnt pick it up but he could if I paid him ANOTHER 50$. UM EXCUSE ME??! I even called my sales rep. no help there. ugh. So now I get to figure that one out. But they did deliver my table. And I still love that. It has a couple scratches I need to fill in but thats the reason I was able to get a 1300$ table for just over $500 so no complaints there.

Yay table and six brand new chairs.

Also goes really well with my new rug 8-)

Its a 5x9 area rug. Looks awesome with the fan. Since those are the only two things in the living room... lol

Then the consignment man came with the furniture for the guest bedroom -- its really nice stuff that I plan on repurposing//painting when I get the time and money because it does have some wear and tear but I got a huge dresser with an awesome mirror on top and two night stands for $260 so I was pretty happy. I just really liked the dresser for some reason. I may just drape it in lace.

So did I mention the dryer people didnt install the dryer? Cause they didnt. Oh and its a GAS dryer. yah. So my Fan Man tried to help me out and installed it for me. Then he was off.

Move forward to twenty minutes later ADT Man comes to the door to sell me stuffs and goes I Smell GAS!. Oh no. YUP. Dryer leaking. fml. And I know NOTHING about gas...except that it goes BOOM. No clue how to turn off my gas. Where the hell is the manual for this new house? Oh right, a DVD and I dont have my TV or DVD player yet....

So I open all the windows and call the Gas Company Emergency Dispatch Line. Lady says open everything dont touch anything or light any fires [duh] and stand outside of the house. 15 minutes goes by and ADT man is making me nervous cause they arent here. So I call them again to see where the saving man is and they say should be on his way. No time frame.

So ADT man calls....

Yup. 911. Even heard them coming with their SIRENS on. And they still beat the technician from the gas co by about 15-20min. assholes. But yes, the nice firemen turned off my gas inside and outside the house and showed me what to do. I explained I hadnt even moved all my stuff into the house yet and that I am just a Florida girl who never had a house with gas and I had no idea what was happening but I didnt want my house to turn into a gas bomb. They were very nice and understanding and waited for a bit. The gas dissipated, and the Gas man came. If i didnt already mention, I knew the gas was coming from the dryer. Well, it wasnt tightened down enough so it was all leaking. Gas Man fixed the tubes but then told me that, actually, the dryer does not work. Not hot gas. no hot air. no hot anything. Awesome. So I call RC Willey and they tell me the dryer is under warranty and I can call the company for them to fix it at no cost. Tomorrow. Ugh.

So that is what I have to deal with. The ONE delivery that was supposed to happen today is where EVERYTHING went wrong and the other two were perfect.

Gah.

So Now I am going to the Cosmopolitan Boulevard Pool for Summer Movie Nights to watch Sixteen Candles. Because I Can. and its free [which is my new favorite word]. Just lounge at a resort pool and watch throwback movies. yes. please.

Oh and I also just had another half of an avocado [for an avocado tomato salt sandwich]. I swear, it really fixes stress. Promise.

Ok, well here is hoping Wednesday and Friday go better with my furniture than today did!!

XOXO

My Big Girl Week

What a week!
Just a couple big things happened this week

1st [and less exciting of the two] is I finished the class that marks my 1/2-way point to being finished with my masters! I am getting my masters in Criminal Intelligence. It's an online masters but a girls got to do what a girls got to do, especially since my work schedule changes so often I would never be able to make a standard class time. So that was exciting. Now I have one week off before my next class starts!! Hopefully I can finish the rest of the masters in about a year and a half.

2d [and most exciting] - I closed on my house and got the keys!! It is officially MY house! I officially own my OWN house.  Yah.....don't let me fool you, I almost threw up signing all those damn papers. Seeing all that money...well..yah. A bit daunting to be sure. It took me over an HOUR to sign all of the papers!!
I have heard that when you are stressed you crave fatty foods and let me tell you  -- the first thing I did when I got back to the house I have been living in was dig into a nice avocado.

I'm sure some of you are scratching your head thinking really Kali? Craving fat and you eat an avocado?? I didn't even think about candy or anything sugar-y and I swear within 15 minutes I started to feel better.Good enough to go out to my favorite Thai restaurant with some friends =)

There won't be any pictures of the house until next Wednesday when I get some of the furniture delivered. The rest should be delivered on Friday -- once I get things settled I will post pictures =) I have some small decor pieces so it wont be too empty with just some furniture. I am REALLY excited about my bedroom set.

But I hate blogging without pictures so I will give you just a sneak peak of part of the downstairs =)

Can't wait for the "after" pics. But probably wont blog before then -- really not much else exciting going on besides furniture 8-)

"I don't want to be anything other than me"

Lalalalala. I am still singing Gavin Degraw and Colbie Caillat after the concert last night at the Beach at Mandalay Bay. I had really been craving going to a concert and was just searching on ticketmaster and saw it was coming up and got my friend Elizabeth to agree to go with me. Neither of us had ever been to the Beach [aka one of the hotel pools] and so we really didn't know what to expect. We just assumed it was an open deck and seating area around a pool with the stage to the side. Well....not quite.

Yup, that's me in the pool. The WAVE pool to be exact. every minute or so the wave would come up and soak me to the bottom inch of my dress. Behind me is the stage, in front of me [aka behind Elizabeth taking the picture] is a big sandy beach. Yup, people brought towels for this concert. Go figure. It was actually an awesome venue and I would LOVE to go to another concert there -- next time I will be prepared and in my bathing suit!!

Justin Young was the opening act - he was really good too and I think I may have recognized one of his song. He is a great match for the tour because he has a nice island vibe, I think he said he is from Hawaii which would make sense.

Colbie was on first and she was INCREDIBLE. Like, better than her album in my opinion. For as little as I have listened to her cd's i was happily surprised to realize that I knew almost all of the words to all of her songs.

She was a lot of fun to watch. She is really pretty and seemed like a sweet person when she stopped and talked to the audience in between songs

Gavin Degraw was on next. He really picked up the energy level in the pool. Colbie has a very mellow but peppy kind of feel - very happy. When Gavin came on, the bass was boomin'. yes that sounds corny in my head too. But really, lots of energy, lots of fun, and again, just as good live as on his albums. He was funny too!! In between sets he would tell jokes and was just kinda sarcastic and funny as heck! I loved it.

It was awesome that we were able to be so close to the stage. We were only about 4-5 people back from the stage at any time and if we had wanted to be aggressive, I know we could have been closer...and about a foot deeper in water, literally lol. Def a concert I would go to again. Getting to bed by 1am was rough though since I had to be up at 0530 for work. eeck. still worth it though.

Work wasnt bad today, went by fast and then I got a nice 45 min run in while watching the end of Independence Day at the gym. Then I headed to REI to get some new running shoes. After reading the book Born to Run - I really believe in the benefits of barefoot running. Really, whether you hate running, love running, or are indifferent, this book it fascinating as it talks about the Tarahumara running people and how scientists basically worked backwords to figure out how we developed to run and why we are a running people who have simple lost out way.
I have had on and off problems with my knees since I really started running my freshman year in college and I love running but hate the pain!
So yes, I have given in to these shoes. I will let you know how it goes!!

Stressful Shopping?!

Seriously. Today was the most stressful shopping day of my life. I was more stressed about buying things FOR my house than I was when i was buying my HOUSE!!! How silly is that?!

I woke up and had a mission. I had a list of about 8 stores that I needed [wanted] to check out on my mission to furnish my house today. I have been looking at furniture the last couple days but honestly I have been way too scared to commit.... But today was the day I changed that.

I started at Colleen's Consignment --well, one of the 4 locations in Las Vegas. It was the most northern store on my list. I liked a lot of things there and even took a picture of a dining room table....but left empty handed. [I have since decided it is a great store to return to AFTER i buy the other big things and need to add decoration type items]

Then I decided to go straight for the best purchase -- mattresses. I had bought a Groupon for Mattress Firm in LV when I still lived in Texas - it was $50 for $200 towards a mattress. I figured since I HAD to use it, I could at least find a decent guest mattress that would hopefully not cost me much. To the luck of all who will visit me, I found a Queen size pillow top mattress that was 50% off and then with the Groupon was only just over $300!!! you really cant beat that. Since I had broke the shopping seal, I was eager to get a mattress of my very own but since I was now out of Groupon money the associate could tell I was less eager to buy...He was very nice and took an additional 200$ off the mattress I had been eyeing - a King size pillow top with memory gel foam and individually wrapped coils and side foam support....and placed it within my limit I had allotted myself. I could have purchased a mattress cheaper at another store I had seen before but I trust Mattress Firm and the associate was much more helpful than at other places. I guess there is something to be said for customer service after all.

Now, I wont drag you through the 7 hours of driving/browsing/shopping that I did and the 10 or more stores that I went to...honestly it would be just too exhausting for me. But let me tell you, boy did I see a lot more of Las Vegas than I ever thought I would....and I now know where a couple crazy cool antique///thrift stores are for when I am ready to add final touches to my home.

As it is, I walked away with two mattresses, a dresser///side table combo for the guest room, a full bedroom suite for my master [my most extravagant purchase....possibly attributed to it being the 7th hour of shopping and me being worn down], a sectional couch with chaise, ottoman, and pullout couch, and a nice new refrigerator [while Sears did give me a good deal, this one still hurt the most....I dont understand how they can be so darn expensive but having a used fridge crap out on me is NOT a chance I am willing to take!] . I bargained like a crazy person for just about everything that I bought...furniture or not, I refuse to buy something that isn't on sale...and even sales can be made cheaper if you push for it....

So now all I need [for big items] is a washer//dryer [which I have feelers out on Craigslist for], ceiling fans [nope, they don't come with the house], and a dining room table and chairs [I have three different prospects but this is lower than the washer and dryer in terms of needs].

Luckily I finished off the day with some darn good sushi with friends, and that took a bit of the shakes off of me...because spending that much money pretty much made me nauseous, planned for or not. I think I need a week off of anything home-buying other than the washer and dryer and ceiling fans...phew.

Once it is all delivered and set up I will be sure to post a couple pictures =)
Till then

Final Walk Through

Today was a relaxing day...you know, wake up, work out, do an hour of admin things at work, go work out a little more, come home and then...
MY FINAL WALK THROUGH!!
Yup! The house is finished and were just waiting on the lender to send all the right paperwork for me to close in one week.

I brought my friend along who closed on his house just a couple weeks ago for another set of eyes as I walked through with my roll of blue tape. I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant at first...but once he placed that roll of blue tape in my hands, I didnt hold back. Any little knick of paint or smudge on floorboards or chip in cabinets quickly found a piece of tape pointing it out. In terms of things I saw needing attention, they were all along those lines - very minor things in all reality. He also assured me that after I move everything in, I can give them a call and have the painters fix up all the little parts I am sure to bump and mess up with furniture.

Getting pretty darn excited about moving in! Maybe I will have to go shopping this weekend and have things picked out to move in right away, expecially now that I was able to see it again. Craigslist and thrift stores here I come [after i buy a fridge, bed, and washer/dryer that is...those are non thriftables for sure]

No pictures until it is 100% mine, and I may even make you wait until I move furniture in. For now, you can see me in Harry Potter's room. Yes, i have a room under my stairs for my very own young wizard to sleep in [for those how never read Harry Potter, sorry you dont get my joke] But really...I can completely stand up in the room...it's almost sad.

And my schedule for the rest of the day? I took a glorious nap and am now watching Shark Week and reading a book "Born to Run." Both are very interesting and I am having a hard time deciding which to give my full attention to. I also made a Whole Foods run and got the only thing a girl CAN get when her boyfriend is deployed....roasted garlic hummus. I mean, I basically just ate hummus with a head of roaster whole garlic cloves in it. No vampires or boys will be coming around this girl for a while!

Till next time [probably Sunday and Monday]

A Celebration of Love and Family

So I landed in Spokane at midnight and was in bed by 1/130,just enough sleep to wake up for Silverwood with the family . Had some pretty amazing orange juice at the Old European Breakfast place first though. Seriously, fresh squeezed to order and so darn good. It was me, my aunt, three cousins and their spouses, and their children. Quite the group!

I had not been to Silverwood in quite some time. ( Read, over 6 years. ) so I had forgotten that it is a roller coaster park AND a water park in one! We had cabanas for all of our stuff which was kind of brilliant and so we were able to spread out a bit and relax about keeping out things in order. Did a couple family slides, one of which I was positively certain was going to flip over the entire time down...although it did not... And the lazy river and the wave pool. I love lazy rivers but I really don't like those silly water falls or places where water shoots out at you. Kind of inconvenient if you ask me.

After several hours in the sun, I was ready for a nap and the kids were ready for some roller coasters so off we went. I was pretty content just watching the kids on their little rides but then I was finally coaxed into going on a big kid coaster with my cousin..the AfterShock. I had forgotten how much I love roller coasters! It was a crazy one too, straight up first so you are just sitting there completely parallel to the ground praying your harness is effective and then dropping, doing the coaster and then back up again and doing it backwards! By the time we finished that we had been at the park for 8 hours and it was time to start meandering back to the cabanas. It was a fun day, got a little sun, and had so e nice family bonding. I just don't see everyone nearly enough !

Saturday was the main event. Grandpa Fred's memorial service and Grandma's birthday. It was probably the largest family reunion I have seen since my cousin Travis' wedding I think...and that was almost 10years ago !

It was the perfect day for something like that though, warm and sunny with a nice breeze. We had the ceremony over by the garden and orchard and each of the five children and grandma all said something about grandpa and then spread some ashes under the apple trees like he asked for. I don't think there was a dry eye under the tent and even all the little kids were quiet and well behaved which was really impressive. It was really nice having everyone share stories and memories and really for the most part everyone was really up beat. I hope whenever my memorial service is to happen it's as full of love and family as grandpas. I think he must have been so happy looking down on all of us.

My cousins' adorable children =)

The rest of the evening was over in the front yard of the farm, or grandma's house if you will. I think that the farm has such a distinct smell from all the flowers and trees, it's always so comforting when I first get out of the car there when I'm there. We had so much food and four generations of family. Really there were so many kids running around and were all really well behaved. They are all so adorable too! Not gonna lie, my family has some good genes. It was just enough kiddy play time for me to keep off any baby itch for a while, not that I had one because I didn't but there is nothing better than playing with happy kids and giving them back when they get cranky. At least for now! I loved seeing all my aunts and uncles and cousins. I feel like I am finally at the age where the age gap isn't really relevant, at least it seems that way to me. And I feel like I have been waiting for that since I was 10 years old, always too young to hang out or drink or have any sort of relatable life experiences. It was really wonderful to not feel that this time. Although it has become apparent that any future kids of mine will be in the generation gap just like I was. Haha such is life I suppose.
Still have never made it to Curlys...but after how long Saturday was, I really didn't mind going to bed early.

Today was also a fun morning. Got to shoot some guns out in the field like we've done the last couple times I've been up. Using good ol beer cans for targets. Yup. My family has quite the collection of guns among them and so I shot about 5-6 different guns I think ranging from an assault rifle to a 9mm and all the good things in between . Surprisingly I am much better than I give myself credit for. I think I may have to find a range in Las Vegas and make a purchase or two of my own. Haha oh goodness. Maybe just one and then I can use theirs when I come to visit.

Played a couple games of cribbage with Grandma too. I always try and make sure we get in at least one game whenever I come to visit. I think I am the only one she plays with anymore. I remember when I first saw her and grandpa playing years ago...maybe 6 or more years ago... And they taught me and then took turns playing with me. Grandma asked why I didn't say that at the memorial. I just don't think I had the words to really talk about it there. They are the only ones I've played the game with too. I beat grandma in both games which was very rare. That last game was neck and neck.
Finished off with some final hanging out around the pool for the last bit of sun ( because there isn't enough sun in Las Vegas ) and then headed to the airport .
Tomorrow starts a new week that should be pretty exciting as well but more about that later!

On the road

One more week down!
Finished some more training for work and now I am off to Idaho to see the family and for grandpas memorial service.
I brought in more cupcakes to work again. This time they were very simple, by my standards. Just a pineapple cake soaked in rum with cream cheese frosting. They were gone by noon.

For dinner tonight we were going to check out an Indian restaurant I bought a Groupon for before the boys dropped me at the airport but it wasn't open for another thirty minutes! We were in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood with lots of sketchy but good looking places and finally settled on a Korean place. Still not sure if its called Da Mang or Garden....
Anyways, it was delicious. Instead if bread at normal restaurants, we had little dishes of kimchee, seaweed salad, sprout salad, cucumber kimchee, potatoes in a sweet sauce . And she just kept refilling them!!!
I had kimchee soup and the boys had bulgolgi and soju. The soju was dangerous but we all shared. I will def go back there again.

My iPad sucks for blogging but I discovered there's an app for that! Now I can blog on the road from my phone !

Forever a Foodie

So not much exciting has happened except for eating.
Las Vegas is AMAZING when it comes to food - honestly it is one of the things I love most about living here!
On Sunday, I ate at The Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan Hotel with my friend's parents who were in town for the weekend.

It was a delicious brunch ($8 for bottomless mimosas or bloody marys!) and had a french toast station, waffle station, omelet station, and all sorts of salads and fruits and meats. A little Asian food section, and then of course the desert stations with gelato and cakes and pastries and chocolate covered strawberries and  all sorts of goodies. Naturally, being Gluten Free...I did not partake in several items...however it was still nice to look at. When we left the buffet , the line wrapped all the way down the huge hallway of the hotel - it was over an hour wait EASY to get into this place!! Honestly, the food was delicious but there is NO WAY I would wait that long for a buffet!!!
My dessert tray at the Wicked Spoon. Strawberry Balsamic Gelato, chocolate strawberries, mini custards in chocolate cups and mini fruit custard type desserts!

Sunday night i made cupcakes for work because I love baking! And because there was a request for a Jalapeno cupcake! Naturally I accepted the challenge. I made a pineapple cupcake with a jalapeno-pineapple jam and cream cheese filling with a cream cheese frosting. Those who were willing to be open minded and give them a try were well rewarded and everyone raved about them! I don't eat the cupcakes but I did keep a bit of the extra filling for my gluten free flax- bread that i buy from a local bakery. Sprinkled with some chia seeds of course.
.

Yesterday I had some friends over for dinner and a movie. My friend Scott challenged himself to go vegan for three weeks and I have endeavored to help him as best I can..He has had a couple cheat days but for the most part I am pretty impressed with how hard he has tried! He also just moved into his new home and has absolutely nothing in terms of kitchen supplies so I felt like being a good friend and helping him out =) I made gluten-free vegan macaroni and cheese, oven baked sweet potato fries, and asparagus with lemon basil sauce. It was very much a comfort meal and there were no leftovers to be seen!

Tonight I went to dinner with 7 friends to Mesa Grill at Caesars Palace. It is Bobby Flay's restaurant and was also on Food Network "Best thing i ever ate". All of the girls ordered the Tiger shrimp and garlic corn tamale which was the item featured on the show. It was very good to be sure, but next time I would still order a different item.

Tiger shrimp and Garlic Corn Tamale

The corn side dish i had was absolutely freaking incredible though. All sorts of seasonings and some light mexican cheeses...omg it was to die for. They also make a mean Margarita - delicious but strong -- as it should be for the prices!! They have a huge tequila list ranging from a 12$ Margarita to a 95$ one!!! So yes...it was an expensive little place...but EVERYTHING on the menu sounded incredible. Everyone enjoyed their meals but honestly no one was going out of their minds raving about it. I think I may put it back on the bottom of my restaurants-to-go-to-in-LV list for a while.
Yes, I have a notebook of every restaurant in Las Vegas that was on Food Network or Best of Las Vegas 2012 so that I can get to them all and also always have ideas for places to take friends and family!!

So that is my world of food for the moment! Now off to bed so I can work out in the morning in order to be allowed to eat all this delicious goodness!!

Back !

I finally have a computer!

Since August of last year [so yes, one whole year], the only "computer" I have had or used has been my iPad--which is NOT conducive to blogging because it wont let me add pictures and I am computer illiterate...

Anyways, since I started my masters I figured I needed a computer to do my homework on...
Luckily my boyfriend is much smarter on the computer scene and was able to guide me towards exactly what I need. I am very happy with my new laptop!
I feel a bit silly just blogging about myself but I always read Alex and Emily's blog and get all jealous and it makes me want to do it too!!!

Last night was my first "Las Vegas First Friday" down in the Arts District of old Las Vegas. it was a bit crowded for my liking...not a HUGE fan of crowds, but I still loved the vibe and all the people watching. I also was able to scope out some awesome vintage/antique/thrift/consignment shops that I cannot wait to check out in the day time!

This morning I woke up to check out the Farmers Market. - There are actually quite a few in LV but this is the only one on Saturdays. It was a bit more expensive than my simple one in San Angelo but it was so worth it. Amazing Vendors.

I bought butternut squash, spaghetti squash, kale, heirloom tomatos, bee pollen, honey, avocados, and ruby red grapefruit.

I am so excited!! It may not be a weekly event ($$) but it will DEFINITELY be a monthly one - and whenever I have visitors!!

Today is going to be a nice relaxing day. Some Hot Yoga and then The Festival of Arts downtown -- another art festival -- have to start looking for home decor!!

Hope everyone is doing well
xoxo
