Forever a Foodie

So not much exciting has happened except for eating.
Las Vegas is AMAZING when it comes to food - honestly it is one of the things I love most about living here!
On Sunday, I ate at The Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan Hotel with my friend's parents who were in town for the weekend.

It was a delicious brunch ($8 for bottomless mimosas or bloody marys!) and had a french toast station, waffle station, omelet station, and all sorts of salads and fruits and meats. A little Asian food section, and then of course the desert stations with gelato and cakes and pastries and chocolate covered strawberries and  all sorts of goodies. Naturally, being Gluten Free...I did not partake in several items...however it was still nice to look at. When we left the buffet , the line wrapped all the way down the huge hallway of the hotel - it was over an hour wait EASY to get into this place!! Honestly, the food was delicious but there is NO WAY I would wait that long for a buffet!!!
My dessert tray at the Wicked Spoon. Strawberry Balsamic Gelato, chocolate strawberries, mini custards in chocolate cups and mini fruit custard type desserts!

Sunday night i made cupcakes for work because I love baking! And because there was a request for a Jalapeno cupcake! Naturally I accepted the challenge. I made a pineapple cupcake with a jalapeno-pineapple jam and cream cheese filling with a cream cheese frosting. Those who were willing to be open minded and give them a try were well rewarded and everyone raved about them! I don't eat the cupcakes but I did keep a bit of the extra filling for my gluten free flax- bread that i buy from a local bakery. Sprinkled with some chia seeds of course.
.

Yesterday I had some friends over for dinner and a movie. My friend Scott challenged himself to go vegan for three weeks and I have endeavored to help him as best I can..He has had a couple cheat days but for the most part I am pretty impressed with how hard he has tried! He also just moved into his new home and has absolutely nothing in terms of kitchen supplies so I felt like being a good friend and helping him out =) I made gluten-free vegan macaroni and cheese, oven baked sweet potato fries, and asparagus with lemon basil sauce. It was very much a comfort meal and there were no leftovers to be seen!

Tonight I went to dinner with 7 friends to Mesa Grill at Caesars Palace. It is Bobby Flay's restaurant and was also on Food Network "Best thing i ever ate". All of the girls ordered the Tiger shrimp and garlic corn tamale which was the item featured on the show. It was very good to be sure, but next time I would still order a different item.

Tiger shrimp and Garlic Corn Tamale

The corn side dish i had was absolutely freaking incredible though. All sorts of seasonings and some light mexican cheeses...omg it was to die for. They also make a mean Margarita - delicious but strong -- as it should be for the prices!! They have a huge tequila list ranging from a 12$ Margarita to a 95$ one!!! So yes...it was an expensive little place...but EVERYTHING on the menu sounded incredible. Everyone enjoyed their meals but honestly no one was going out of their minds raving about it. I think I may put it back on the bottom of my restaurants-to-go-to-in-LV list for a while.
Yes, I have a notebook of every restaurant in Las Vegas that was on Food Network or Best of Las Vegas 2012 so that I can get to them all and also always have ideas for places to take friends and family!!

So that is my world of food for the moment! Now off to bed so I can work out in the morning in order to be allowed to eat all this delicious goodness!!
